VIP programs vs flat rakeback.

Loyalty structures pretend to reward volume. Sometimes they do; sometimes they redistribute your money to whales. Here's the honest comparison.

Every room worth grinding at has a "VIP" program. The good ones (Elite Benefits, Fish Buffet at scale) reward loyalty linearly. The bad ones front-load the top tier and let 95% of the field grind for nothing.

1. The flat-rakeback baseline

A 30% flat rakeback deal pays 30% of your rake every week, no drama. It's the yardstick against which every VIP program should be measured. WPN skins and Chico operate close to this model.

2. Progressive schemes: Elite Benefits

Elite Benefits (ACR / Black Chip on the Winning Poker Network) rewards you for climbing tiers. Effective rakeback at the top of the scheme reaches 40–65% — but only for players putting in serious weekly volume. See the ACR review for the exact tier math.

3. Leaderboards: real EV or noise

Leaderboards concentrate value at the top. If you can't realistically finish top-10, treat their EV as zero and use the flat rakeback baseline instead.

4. Chest / lottery loyalty (avoid)

Any scheme paying you in randomised chests trades variance for perceived engagement. Multiply the sticker "up to X%" by 0.6 to get a realistic average — often worse than the flat comparison.

5. Which to pick, by profile

Sub-2k hands/week cash grinder: flat rakeback (CoinPoker, WPN). 2k–8k hands: Fish Buffet on GG becomes competitive. MTT-only grinder: Elite Benefits on ACR wins on volume rewards. All three: calculator settles it.
